The Opportunity:

Flock Safety is looking for a meticulous and dedicated Assembly Technician to join our production team. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in the precise assembly of aircraft sub-systems, directly impacting the efficiency and quality of our overall aircraft manufacturing process. How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Perform precise assembly of various aircraft sub-systems and components.
  • Execute accurate soldering techniques for electrical and mechanical connections.
  • Apply correct screw installation methods, understanding different types and their applications.
  • Utilize Loctite and other bonding agents appropriately within assemblies.
  • Consistently produce assemblies with a high level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Identify and rectify rework opportunities, ensuring minimal defects in finished products.
  • Work efficiently to meet production targets while maintaining stringent quality standards.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and maintain a secure and organized workspace.
  • Familiarize yourself with and effectively use various assembly tools and equipment.
  • Contribute to a smooth production flow by focusing on sub-assembly speed and accuracy.

The Skillset:

This role requires frequent physical activity, including but not limited to: precise hand movements, standing for extended periods, and handling small components.

  • Prior experience in assembly, manufacturing, or a related technical field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn proper soldering techniques.
  • Experience with various fastening methods, including screw installation and torque control.
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and technical drawings accurately.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Proactive approach to learning and skill development.
  • Ability to identify and resolve minor assembly issues independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
  • Basic computer literacy for documentation and communication.

Required Availability:

Onsite at our Atlanta-based manufacturing facility Monday through Friday during standard business hours. Overtime may be expected based on production demands.

Travel:

Minimal to no travel is anticipated for this role.

  • Performing highly repetitive motions, especially involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Manipulating small components with precision.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about the assembly area to retrieve parts or tools.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in various directions.
  • Communicating with team members to exchange information.
  • Operating various hand tools and specialized assembly equipment.
  • Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assemblies.

Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Working in a controlled warehouse or assembly environment.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels from machinery.
  • Handling small parts and potentially delicate components.
  • Adhering to safety protocols specific to an assembly environment.

90 Days at Flock:

We believe in clear expectations and a structured onboarding process to ensure your success. This 90-day plan outlines key milestones and objectives for your first three months as an Aviation Assembly Technician.

The First 30 Days:

  • Engage in daily 1:1 meetings with your manager for the first week to ensure smooth integration.
  • Connect with peers and cross-functional teams, including Connectivity and EE teams.
  • Learn and follow proper assembly techniques.
  • Understand foundational soldering techniques.

The First 60 Days:

  • Gain confidence in assembling any of the assigned sub-systems with minimal rework.
  • Accurately identify good and bad solder joints and apply corrective measures for poor joints.
  • Master proper screw technique, including how to avoid cross-threading and remove stripped screws.

90 Days & Beyond:

  • Operate with high confidence in handling any assigned sub-assembly, rarely requiring rework or manager input.
  • Independently request necessary equipment or resources.
  • Effectively identify and mitigate hazards within the assembly area, ensuring safety for yourself and others.

Compensation:

In this role, you’ll receive starting pay of $21-$24/hour.
