Job Description and Duties

The Contractors State License Board is currently recruiting for a Staff Services Analyst in the Enforcement Division, Mediation Center.

The position is located in Norwalk .

Under supervision of the Supervising Special Investigator I (SSI I), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) is responsible for performing a wide variety of analytical assignments for the Enforcement division’s Intake and Mediation Center. The SSA reviews incoming consumer complaints, gathers evidence from the parties, analyzes contractor law, conducts mediation, and makes recommendations. The SSA also tracks all complaints and determines priority, ensuring to meet established timelines. The SSA prepares and analyzes tracking spreadsheets and prepares summary reports based on findings to ensure a timely and fair complaint handling process.

Special Requirements

  • Pursuant to California Business and Professions Code 154.3, incumbent in this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice for criminal history background clearance and be cleared before hiring. 
  • This position is subject to Title 16, section 3830 of the California Code of Regulations, the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Conflict of Interest Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1st, and within 30 days of leaving office.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience applying law/policy and procedures; 
  • Experience handling consumer complaints; 
  • Proficient in working with various computer databases and software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
