Founding Staff Engineer

What You Will Do

As our Founding Staff Engineer at Avy, your role is crucial in transforming our product ideas into reality. Your mission is to do whatever it takes technically to delight users and make the business successful. You will have the chance to showcase your knowledge and experience to build high-quality software that bridges the gap between humans and computers. Your work will involve:

• Leading the technical design, architecture, and execution of high-quality software for macOS and server components, focusing on user delight and business success.
• Transitioning smoothly between intensive coding and strategic architectural planning.
• Rapidly delivering new value to users, prioritizing immediate user needs while maintaining a long-term vision for technical excellence.
• Cultivating our engineering culture through rigorous testing, code reviews, and continuous integration.
• Utilizing your leadership skills to enhance team collaboration and leveraging collective strengths.

Skills You Will Need

• A wealth of experience, with 10-12+ years in diverse software development roles.
• Pragmatic approach to problem-solving, aligning engineering solutions with business needs.
• Expertise in Apple ecosystem development (iOS, macOS, Swift, Objective-C, SwiftUI, AppKit, UIKit).
• Experience in system architecture, including distributed systems or multi-process applications.
• Background in technical leadership, management, or architectural roles.
• A love for getting things done and a willingness to hands-on while our team is small.
• Experience with machine learning and AI, with a practical application focus.
